Urban Cooking School brings a new dimension to Zürich's food scene. We aim to teach and educate you in a relaxed atmosphere while taking the food we cook and taste very seriously. Fun and relaxed is our philosophy.
We offer classes based around the seasons, produce available and different cultures. From Europe to Asia and classes for Low GI and beginners. These are just some of the offerings in our classes section of the website.
We can cater for one on one, 10 people in our scheduled classes, private dinners or social groups.
Tailored private events for groups and corporate team building for up to 10 people.
Your host Peter Hood, has been an active participant in the Sydney, Australia food scene for 25 yrs. Through working as a chef and owning restaurants and cafes from the early 90’s and spending 6 yrs in many farmers markets introducing and educating the public on exotic mushrooms.
The Sydney food scene is one of the most competitive in the world with a long multicultural background, this has created a high level of expectation on, quality, taste and service from highly food educated locals and tourist alike.
Peter continues to educate himself on new ideas and flavours mostly by enjoying his recent move to Europe and the access he has to traveling to amazing food cultures here. While Peter was trained in Italian cooking he has developed his abilities in Asia food and is now focusing on broader Mediterranean and North Africa flavours. His constant passion for spices, fresh produce and exploring traditional combinations means his travel expeditions are always governed by a food agenda.
What does all of this offer to you in a cooking class experience with Peter - he is focused on helping everyone become a better cook. He believes with a bit of confidence we can all get to be able to feel we can experiment and create great food experiences at home. He enjoys sharing his knowledge, learning from others as we all have things to offer and ensuring everyone feels comfortable during the session.
